I was surprised by the number of items out there for this.
- Body Armor - For stomach, back, and side shots
- Neck Protection - Could you imagine getting hit in the throat?
- Gloves - But getting hit in the hands was pretty common but I'm going to use some cheap gloves I already own
- Complete Head Mask& goggles - I actually have a welt on my forehead
- Complete Exo-skeleton - for the completely paranoid out there
- CO2 Tank
- Holster for holding additional Paint or Air
- Paintball sleeve - I have plastic paint ball plug but it takes the first 10 seconds of the game to put it away so you don't loose it - you could be dead by then. The sleeves are cool because they are attached with an elastic band, you just pull them off.

Paint ball can be pretty painful. I've gone many times and every time I go I end up with at least one bruise that takes a month or two to heal. I don't mind the welts on the body and legs too much though. The ones that hit the hands or neck do bother me. I'd say that gloves and a mask that protects the throat are a must.
For a less pricy and slightly less dangerous game you could try getting together a gumdrop war. You use PVC pipe of apropreate size as a blow gun and gumdrops for ammo. It's slightly less painful (bruises and welts do occasionally still happen) and MUCH less expesive. Eye protection is, as always, a good idea.
Hope your next paint ball experience is more fun and less painful!
Hmm, I'd be more interested in a powered exoskeleton with built in weaponry. Mechwarrior meets paintball, hillarity ensues.
